During the past few years I’ve noticed more and more mature trees toppled by the wind. Walks in the woods have become scenes reminiscent of the game pick-up-sticks. Trees are in random patterns littering the forest floors. I don’t recall ever seeing so many downed trees at one time in my decades of hiking in the woods. Although I realize this is not a scientific observation, it seems to me the winds have become stronger and are making life difficult for some trees.
“The Winds of Climate Change” was created to document this phenomenon and to attempt to depict the abstract nature of wind. The two center panels are drawings based on local photos I’ve taken recently and the outer panels are meant to capture a sense of wind.
